Our Story

From the hills of Nepal. Into homes across the globe.

HOW IT BEGAN

Bhairabi Handicraft was born from a belief that was both ancient and urgent: that the women of Nepal’s hills carry within their hands one of the world’s most beautiful craft traditions — and that they deserve far more than the world has been offering them.

Our name says it all. Bhairabi — the goddess of power, courage, and fierce compassion — is the spirit we carry into everything we make. This is not a decoration on our logo. It is the soul of our enterprise.

THE JOURNEY

We began as a small workshop with a simple, non-negotiable goal: to create meaningful employment for local women through the craft they already knew. No factories. No machines. Just skilled women artisans, natural wool, and the ancient techniques of Nepal’s felting tradition.

We trained women who had never seen their craft valued by the global market. We paid fair wages from day one — not as a future promise, but as a founding condition. We built a production model around the rhythms of village life, offering flexibility, safety, and dignity.

The world noticed. First in Europe. Then in America. Then Australia. Then Asia. Our felt balls, shoes, keyrings, puppets, and décor items began appearing in boutique shops, Montessori classrooms, eco-gift stores, and wholesale catalogues across more than 20 countries.

“Every order that leaves Bhairabi is a wage earned by a woman who chose her independence through her hands.”

WHERE WE ARE NOW

Today, Bhairabi Handicraft is a growing global brand — still rooted in Nepal’s hills, still fiercely women-led, and more committed than ever to the principles we started with. Our artisan network continues to grow. Our product range continues to expand. And our buyers continue to come back — because quality built on dignity doesn’t need discounting.

We are proud to represent Nepal’s creativity, craftsmanship, and spirit of resilience on the international stage. Not as a souvenir brand — but as a serious, supply-chain-ready, B2B-capable enterprise that happens to also be one of the most human stories in the felt industry.
