In this rapidly changing world, youth are the transformers not only the observers. Youth are considered to be the catalyst for transformation. From the climate activism to digital innovation, youth are changing the society with the bold initiatives. The lasting leadership or the awareness among us doesn’t begin on a stage or in a spotlight. Somehow, it starts from within and with self-awareness, purpose and the courage to take initiatives.

At Inspire Youth Nepal, we strive to take the best of the individual. This isn’t only about providing youth with the tools they need. It’s about how we can awaken what already exists within ourselves. This happens only after unlocking the inner leadership which is the key to build the resilient communities and a more equitable nation.

The Inner Leadership

The inner leader is more than a title or a position itself. Somehow, real leadership begins with a mindset and self-discipline along with the emotional intelligence, empathy and the ability to act with clear mindset and intention even in the difficult times.

We have dozens of examples where the youth have taken their own initiatives and build a firm character in the society helping both emotionally and financially.

Our young group has initiated work in different sectors.

✅ Our group has initiated digital skills teaching practice during the COVID-19 lockdowns. We waited for the approval and funding. We recognized a need, trusted our ability and responded. The leadership was within and all the individual helped selflessly during this time.

✅ Our member started a menstrual hygiene awareness campaign in different parts of Nepal after realizing how cultural taboos were affecting girl’s mentality and education. Their strength wasn’t loud. Therefore, the members collaborated and made the voice persistent, rooted in purpose and driven lived experience.

Real Stories, Real Change: Youth Owning Their Power

When the youth are seen, heard and supported, then the nation can change within a glance. The youth participation is the most for the nation development as the youth are considered the building block of the nation.

Our group members are now facilitating in the civic engagement workshops for rural youth leadership development program to encourage them to get involved in social welfare campaigns.

Some of our members have suffered themselves and are involved in the projects where they support the ones who are going through the same situation and get away with it.

Likewise, our members have been the aspiring entrepreneur and turned their local farming experience into an organic agri-business standard that really empowers other youth to earn in a sustainable way.

Each member initiated every task believing themselves. Self esteem is the most powerful tool before starting any task and it eventually took steps to lead others.

✅ Challenge social norms with empathy in necessary condition

✅ Making the solutions that are culturally relevant and community driven

Why Inner Leadership Matters Today?

In Nepal’s context, where inequality, political instability and systemic barriers are still prevailing, the inner leadership is not just only important but its essential. Normally, the outer change doesn’t last for the long time until and unless we are backed by inner strength, resilience and clarity of vision.

How Inspire Youth Nepal Helps Build Inner Leaders?

At Inspire Youth Nepal, we just don’t train everyone to be leader somehow, we nurture it. Our approach implies on:

✅ Self-awareness: Helping to find the best within an individual including their strengths, fears and values.

✅ Purpose driven action: Guide them to find and follow causes that matter to them

✅ Voice and expression: Creating platforms for young people to speak, write and involvement in projects

We generally implement these ideas through leadership camps, mentorship programs, youth circles, and advocacy training. We only don’t make them participate; we strive our best to find the best within themselves. We always make them believe that the leadership is already within themselves. It is a call to young people. The experience, story and passion work as the motivating factor that the change we want to see starts from ourselves.

The first question we need to ask ourself is what’s that one small step we can take today to make tomorrow beautiful. Because when we lead ourself, we light the path for others. Eventually, when thousands of young people get involved and do that together- that’s how movements begin.
